Summer is a time we both love, and we’ve put together a list of activities we know you’ll enjoy. Whether you're here for a quick weekend getaway or a longer stay, there’s plenty to see and do—and we’ve picked some of the best spots just for you.

As always, we’re passionate about keeping it local. From the beautiful surroundings to the delicious food and wine, there’s something truly special about Somerset West, Stellenbosch, and the stunning Winelands. One of the highlights for many local folks is the Spier Summer Concerts. If you love live music in a relaxed, open-air setting, this is definitely for you. Taking place at Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, this concert series brings together the best local and international artists. Lourensford Estate has a host of events this festive season, and we think you’ll love them! All set against the stunning backdrop of the Helderberg Mountains, these events will get you into the festive spirit. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up:

What better way to celebrate the season than with a live Christmas concert at Muratie Wine Estate?

Delheim Harvest Festival ‍

Another premier destination is Delheim Wine Estate, and their Harvest Festival in late January is something to look forward to. You can celebrate the new harvest with wine tastings, live music, and delicious food, all while enjoying the stunning views of the estate.

Carols by Candlelight at Vergelegen Wine Estate ‍

One of the most special events of the season is the annual Helderberg Hospice Carols by Candlelight at Vergelegen Wine Estate. It’s such a magical way to get into the Christmas spirit with beautiful music by Richard Cock. Bring your picnic basket, grab a blanket, and gather your family for a cozy, festive evening on the estate’s lawns.

Whale Watching in Hermanus‍

For those of you visiting us from April onwards, we highly recommend making a trip to Hermanus, which is about an hour’s drive from Somerset West, for some of the world’s best whale watching. From April to September, the southern right whales can be spotted right off the coast. Whether you’re enjoying the view from the cliffs or hopping on a boat for a closer look, it’s a truly unforgettable experience.

Galileo Open Air Cinema‍

For something a little different, the Galileo Open Air Cinema is a fantastic way to watch classic films under the stars at various wine estates in the area. Grab some snacks, kick back, and enjoy the show!
